The background of the story is woven with a fairy tale that an Aaji (grandma) is telling her granddaughter. This fairy tale becomes a metaphor for a real life situation this family suddenly finds itself facing.

Especially with Diwali just around the corner, living away from home and accepting american citizenship is emotionally draining as she misses her homemade faral, ubtan bath and other diwali festivities! In this emotional turmoil she feels a disconnect from her roots, her country.
